Neustift
Neustift centers on the intersection of the Stubaital road and Dorfstrasse, a cramped side-street that loops through the heart of the village. The church, with its lovely cemetery, stands on the corner, and après-ski, nightlife, and dining establishments line the nearby square. Neustift’s sporting facilities, however, lie mostly in the pastures on the southeastern edge of town, just across the Stubaital road. Here, visitors take to riverside walking paths, cross-country ski slopes, a paragliding field, the Elfer mountain lift, and a lighted nighttime toboggan run.
Although Neustift is the closest developed village to the Stubai Glacier, it is still a 20-km drive south to the glacier base – a commute best made in winter by local bus.
The glacier slopes offer skiers 60 km of mostly intermediate and beginner runs and a 4.5-km cross-country loop. Snow sports on the glacier run year-round when condition allow.
