Orme dei Dinosauri (The Dinosaur Track Hike) To reach the beginning of trail 472, follow SS251 from Selva di Cadore southeast until you reach the Rifugio Staulanza at Forcella Staulanza. This easy trail at the foot of Monte Pelmo leads to fossilized dinosaur tracks from the Triassic period. It was once believed that this area was at about sea level and there were numerous herbivore and carnivore dinosaurs that roamed the area. An enormous rock formation fell from the side of Monte Pelmo, broke into many pieces and exposed the dinosaur tracks that were discovered in the late 20th century. Timing: Allow approximately one hour to reach the tracks and another hour to retrace your steps back.
