The largest lake in the region is the Etang de Hollande created in the 17th century in the Forêt de Rambouillet just outside St-Leger-en-Yvelines. Known as a base de loisirs (leisure center), the lake has many activities such as swimming, pedal boats (pédalos), bike rental, windsurfing and sailing (la voile). There’s a sandy beach and a brasserie, as well as a new miniature port, the Cap Rambolitain, where the family can ride around on motorized miniature versions of fishing trawlers and Mississippi river boats.
