If the urge for “messing about in boats,” as the British say, is irresistable, but you have no desire to be at the helm yourself, there are all kinds of excursions available from most of the ports and marinas. Deep-sea fishing boats leave regularly from Saint Raphaël Vieux Port and Fréjus Vieux Port, and there are sightseeing excursions that range from a couple of hours exploring offshore islands to full- and half-day outings up and down the coast. Les Bateaux de Saint Raphaël, based in the Vieux Port, runs several trips to Saint Tropez daily. Round-trip fare for the hour-long voyage costs euro 20 for adults, euro 11 for children under nine years of age. On Tuesday and Saturday mornings, trips are scheduled in time for the Grand Marché Provençal à Saint Tropez – a particularly colorful market. The company runs a variety of cruises into the calanques and around the offshore islands in catamarans and motor launches. From April to September, there are 45- inute glass-bottom boat ruises around Cap Dramont. A changing schedule, including fishing cruises, is published on their website and is available from their dock in the Vieux Port.
