Have a regular program of twice-weekly, day-long walks for their members and invite visitors to pack a picnic and join in. This being a French hiking club, the weekly walks are suspended during July and August, the inviolable French vacation period. Once a month, the group hires a bus to hike farther afield. The club takes mountain, forest and coastal walks. If you have ever been a member of a rambler’s association or hiking club, you know that this can be a sociable way to explore the countryside and get to know local people. They meet on Sundays andWednesdays at Place de la République, near the Post Office annex, on Fréjus Plage the beach. A schedule of walks is published on the group’s website. Most hikes start at 7 or 7:30 am and last five or six hours.
