At the beginning of February, when the Mimosa plantations on the hills of the massifs burst into bloom, this area goes wild with flower celebrations. Festivities vary from town to town along the 130-km/80-mile Mimosa Road, but they usually include a grand parade or corso with flower bedecked floats and loads of pretty girls. In Saint Raphaël, Mimosa Week lasts eight days and includes the crowning of Miss Mimosa, exhibitions, nature walks, visits to greenhouses and “flower wars,” which involve a lot of mimosa throwing.
