Valpolicella wines are produced in three zones east of Lake Garda: Valpolicella Classico is the westernmost zone, Valpolicella Valpantena the central, and Valpolicella farthest east. Valpolicella, Valpolicella Superiore, Recioto and Amarone are produced using primarily Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara, Negrara and Rossignola grapes. Valpolicella Classico is ruby red, dry and somewhat sweet, Recioto is a garnet red, delicate and either sweet or dry and good with desserts, and Amarone, violet red is dry, and good with red meat and game. Valpolicella Superiore is aged at least one year.
