Located on Whitetail Lane in the section of Bar Harbor called Salisbury Cove, Hikers Haven is tucked into the field and woods of an 1840s farm yet, is only four miles from Acadia National Park. The cottage is a four year old post and beam timber frame. Construction is traditional hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery with all the beautiful, massive beams left exposed. Just one mile away is Hadley's Point Beach with ample parking and a good place to slip your kayak into the saltwater and explore Frenchman's Bay. A free shuttle bus service called the Island Explorer is available for those who wish to leave the driving to someone else. It can pick you up at the entrance to the cabin's private road and take you to most all important places on Mount Desert Island including Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. dining and living areaThe kitchen is finished with cherry cabinets and Corian™ countertops, ceramic tile floor and all new appliances. It is fully equipped to handle your level of cooking pleasure. The breakfast/dining nook overlooks the “Zen” garden in front to the old pasture land beyond and makes a great spot to watch for wildlife during your morning coffee. The living area is extremely cozy with it's gas log fireplace, comfy love seat and satellite TV. You are surrounded by oriental touches, exposed hemlock beams joined with ash pegs and watercolors of Mount Desert Island, done by a local artist. To one side is a reading nook complete with bookcase where you can enjoy your afternoon tea.
