The Finlen Hotel & Motor Inn is located in the heart of historic uptown Butte. The hotel was built in 1924 and was once a leading hotel in the Pacific Northwest. It was for many years the tallest building in Montana, and it remains the tallest in Butte at ten stories. The exterior of the building is brick, highlighted by terra-cotta ledges and overhangs and the one-of-a kind copper mansard roof and entrance canopy. The interior of the building features a restored lobby and main ballroom, vaulted ceilings, crystal chandeliers, copper railings, and terrazzo floors. The building is currently home to some forty apartments, offices, and a lounge, as well as two floors of hotel rooms. The rooms have been upgraded to today's comfort standards, and each room is furnished with a private bath, remote television, queen beds, and telephones. Adjacent to the hotel is the motor inn which offers the same level of comfort, plus air conditioning and the parking convenience of a motor inn.
