Originally a footpath built by an English clergyman (at his own expense) in 1820, Nice’s famous seafront boulevard follows the curve of the Baie des Anglais. The busy two-lane road of today is always flower-bedecked and adorned with exotic palm trees. Despite the traffic, this is an essential stroll, taking you past extravagant Belle Époque buildings like the Hotel Negresco, with its pink domes, and Art Deco masterpieces like the Palais de la Méditerranée.
