A small fortress on the port, built in the early 17th century to defend the town, the Bastion was restored and redecorated in the 1950s to house works by Cocteau. The artist himself was involved in the restoration, in keeping with the Riviera’s tradition of artists founding small, personal art museums. Work includes drawings, tapestries, watercolors, pastels, ceramics, faiences and mosaics made of pebbles.
