Österlen

Österlen is one of Sweden's more popular tourist destinations, adored for its beautiful and diverse natural environment, its farmlands, forests, beaches and national parks, and its small towns and villages. While historically the domain of farmers, fishermen and fruit growers, the area increasingly attracts artists, musicians, writers and poets, famous people from every walk of Swedish society, and, of course, tourists.

Österlen's principal town is Simrishamn, a picturesque coastal town established in the 14th century, with a population of roughly 6,500, centered around its main street, Storgatan, and market square. It is an atmospheric little town, with cobbled streets and a medieval church, that of St. Nikolai, in the center of town.

Österlen is situated in the southeast corner of the Swedish province of Scania.
